The Best Of OKS

Angry Anti-Censorship Song For Michael Jackson To Sing
I Swear To God
1995 - From our first session.
"Angry Anti-Censorsorship Song For Michael Jackson To Sing" the first song we ever recorded. A conceptual work from a rather non-conceptual band. The lyrics were the ones that Michael Jackson removed from his HIStory album. The title is a reference to my favorite Minutemen song. The final Ramones album was released on the same day these were recorded.

Freddy Song
Bag Of Tapes
SOB Joke
Jay West Professional Wife-Beater
1995
The OKS style takes form. One take, no rehearsals, improvised lyrics, live to two track and percussionless. "Bag of Tapes" features a a rattling bag of tapes. "Jay West Professional Wife-Beater" is a song about a guy who'd never hurt a fly, who was very unmarried at the time, sung to the tune of the theme from the Monkees.

Brian Kicks Ass
Eat Me Out, Anton
1996-1997
OKS mach 2. Vile was no longer in the band and was replaced by Tex M. West. The original OKS style traded punk rock leanings for a slower metal chug. The one live performance of OKS took place with this lineup in '97.

There Are Fishmen Living In The Pool
Mac Machine
The Dark Crystal Method
1997-1998
Third and final line-up, Tex M. West was now gone and OKS trimmed down to a trio. The old days are over, the songs are much more rehearsed, musical and lyrics are written before-hand. The beginning of the close knit songwriting of Man-Car, Chango and Wind. "The Dark Crystal Method" is profoundly disturbing and poetic, and OKS's first electronic experiment.

Homosaucers
I Like To Drink Soda
My Parents
Wave To The Mailman
1998-1999
OKS's least available material. The trio experiments more with electronic concepts and a return to their more punk rock roots. "Homosaucers" is like Brokeback Mountain meets Close Encounters.

A Band Like A Motherfucker
Chuck Norris You Motherfucker...
Mr. Anti-Everything And The Grindcore Gimmie-Gimmies
1999-2000
OKS's final sessions. The live to two track method is left behind for a four track, and it was mixed on a computer. Something was lost from those halcyon days of yore, but luckily the songs have gotten more obnoxious the lyric more offensive and the electronic experiments have just made everything sound just as bad as before. The silence begins.
