Sunday, July 30, 2006 Every July and August in NYC the humidity reaches it's absolute most unbearable point and this year is no exception. As to whether this has influenced mine and John's podcasts this week, I doubt the feeling of discomfort and pressure of this thick air couldn't have left anyone's state of mind unscathed. For his latest podcast El Plan de Aguavodka gives us a glimmering folk song with slight electronic bursts sticking their heads out of the seems with Black Chains On A Blue-White Trike. The Painful Leg Injuries continue the Chickens Scratching series with Brown Fox. This one may be brown but it's definitely not furry. The Painful Leg Injuries' track Can I Always Be The Cosmos? from Backwards, Broken and Incorrectly was featured on the internet radio show Crooked Stylus on July 28th. Thanks so much to Darius Akashic, the shows awesome DJ, for playing me. Listen to the show by clicking here. Though you'll have to wait a week or two for the release of our label comp, Men In White Coats, a collection of 45 one minute sound art science experiments, we've added 3 sample tracks to our radio player or you can listen to them by clicking the links below. Keep checking this page for updates on Men In White Coats. Enjoy. "Red Hot Symbiogenesis Jam" by El Plan de Aguavodka "The Spontaneous Fracturing of Heavy Metal" by the Painful Leg Injuries "Socialism Supersedes Scientific Rigour" by the Unevenness of the Moon's Surface Jonah of U/M/S didn't get his powerbook back from the genius bar in time to podcast this week, but you can check out the hilarious music video he directed "The Avon Lady" which is building quite a following on youtube.com. Check it out by clicking here. Take care, until next week... Sunday, July 23, 2006 Good morning everyone and welcome back. Our first label compilation, Men In White Coats, has shipped from the home base to CD Baby, and we'll post an update when it's available for sale. Men In White Coats is collection 45 all new one minute sound art science experiments with 15 tracks by El Plan De Aguavodka, The Painful Leg Injuries and The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface. Thanks to everyone who listened and commented on my last podcast series, Return to the Four Chambers. This week we begin the 12th Painful Leg Injuries Podcast Series, Chickens Scratching. This series will be compositions made from handwritten waveforms. Having suffered through 12 years of catholic education, it was particularly painful to have "sloppy" handwriting. I have been told by a teacher that my handwriting was so unreadable, that I should be a doctor or improve my penmanship. Well, I never did. Now using audio software I have made a series of podcasts where I have handwritten, in cursive, the waveforms that the music is made from. The first of this six part series is The Quick. The Quick is a series of my handwritten waveforms, each a fraction of a second, panning left and right and constantly pitch shifting. I dare you listen to this loudly on a pair of headphones. Dedicated the lousy catholic educators around the world and especially in Monmouth and Ocean county New Jersey. You know who you are. El Plan De Aguavodka's latest is a slightly twisted peaceful nature ballad. At it's heart it's folk song that's slowly falling apart into an otherworldly ambience. Very awesome. Until next week, take care. Sunday, July 16, 2006![]() First, I'd like announce the next release on OKS Recordings of North America, our first label compilation. A high concept affair at that, El Plan De Aguavodka, The Painful Leg Injuries and The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface each recorded 15 one minute tracks about geology, biology, chemistry and physics. The comp will be called Men In White Coats and it will be available at CD Baby before the end of July. This week is the sixth and final episode of the Painful Leg Injuries podcast series Return to the Four Chambers. Me As An Old Man In Palermo Sipping On Espresso Watching the Children Play began with a recording I made of two men playing a violin and accordian. I became fascinated with it and this image I had in my mind. It was this daydream I had of myself as old man...etc. Next week I will begin my next series, of compositions made from hand drawn audio waveforms, Chickens Scatching . El Plan De Aguavodka latest explores our sociological acceptance of inevitability of the end. I Can't Wait To Perish In This Apocalypse is a nightmare journey of an Atari 2600 play carousel music in a dryer. Lovely, if this is the end, bring it on. The Unevenness of Moon's Surface may continue to be out of action for bit, Jonah's laptop has taken an unfortunate turn. We'll all pratice good luck ritual for the return of his powerbook. Have a good week and stay tuned. Sunday, July 09, 2006![]() Greetings and welcome back. This week's podcasts are big daunting monoliths. El Plan De Aguavodka's latest podcast Another Stereotype Eats Itself is miniature that is only small on duration. It's full large monolithic gestures, one of the most grand EPDA podcasts to date. Exciting. The Painful Leg Injuries hit you with another chapter from the Return to the Underground Chambers. This week's podcast, Above Us Only Sky turns a musical saw version of a classsic pop song and whips it it into a Ramond Sender-like drone piece. U/M/S is taking the week off, he's on vacation here on the east coast. Thanks to all our podcast subsribers and listeners, see you next week. Sunday, July 02, 2006![]() Good morning and welcome back. This week the Painful Leg Injuries Podcast is my quietly held ambition that will probably never come true. As I've gotten older, I love more and more jazz. As of right now, I can't really see myself becoming a jazz band leader in my lifetime so, I took advantage of my latest podcast series to realise this daydream. The Bill Byrne Elevenbilliontet is a improvisation of me leading my numerous field recordings of NYC's lonely horn players, and thanks to software, we travel to unforeseen dimensions, man. El Plan De Aguavodka force feeds us some well unearned crispness through pain. Bowl-of Screws is microbiology through eating things that aren't food. You'll love it. The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface paints us a Bob Ross sunset left out in the rain. A beautiful work and a perfect balance of U/M/S's beauty earned through suffering. It's a lot softer around the edges then it's big name implies, The Behemoth Titan Monster Colossus. Enjoy your American Independence Day and be careful with the handling of explosives.
