Update 9/24

The Painful Leg Injuries
Live Debut!

October 24th, @ NYC's Pussycat Lounge
2nd Floor, 96 Rector Street, $8, 21+
8pm (PLI goes on at 11pm)

Thanks very much to Lee Sobel and
Lo-fi promotions for putting me in
this show, the first live performance of the PLI!
Please, come join us!

El Plan De Aguavodka's podcast this week is a
disturbingly distorted church hymn called
Good Day White Dove I Come to Praise Thee. It's as scary as those holographic
pictures of Jesus.

The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface delivers
another bag of trash to the dumpster in his latest series,
Taking Out The Trash. In the third part,
101 Things That Smell Like Dead Bodies,

UMS rewards the patient with an 18 minute drone fest, as
dirty as any trash can in a major city.

The Painful Leg Injuries recreate the fatal plummet
of a falling man in My Thoughts Slow Down As The Ground Moves Faster. The mournful Lost-esque
montage of someone's death, with out the visuals.

I'll be out of town next weekend, so there's no podcast updates.
We return on October 8th. See you then!

Update 9/17

Welcome back again, everyone.

The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface delivers an epic 20 minute podcast called The Shadowy Corridor to Collective Enlightenment, the second part of his Taking Out the Trash series. It's like a carnival ride in super slow motion.

El Plan De Aguavodka gives us a miniature which is a carnival ride sped up with Pfifltriggi Rave. Off-kilter and pyschedelic and awesome.

The Painful Leg Injuries continue the Perilious Behavior series with A Brief Transcendence. This one is based on a stage dive. Enjoy.

Until next week.

365 Days of Jonas Mekas

Avant garde cinema is alive and well! Jonas Mekas, the godfather of "new american cinema," pioneer of the diary film, founder of Anthology Film Archives, the Filmmaker's Co-op, and Film Culture magazine is about to unleash 365 brand new short films onto the internet. At any age--Mekas is 83--that's quite an undertaking. This monumentally small project (you can put them on your ipod) may quiet those who are constantly declaring every so-and-so with a camcorder and a computer the inventor of a new genre. Diary filmmaking has obviously been around for quite some time and Mekas is truly a master of the form. So if you missed the recent screening of Letter From Greenpoint at the Museum of the Moving Image like I did, there's no need to worry; you'll soon get your experimental film fix--a whole year's worth! According to an article in New York Magazine the series should be starting this friday, but the date is hardly set in stone. For the latest updates you can subscribe to the mailing list at www.jonasmekas.com and get a warm video welcome from the man himself.

Update 9/10

What makes someone jump of a building with a parachute or someone jump on top of a crocodile and wrestle or ride across a tight rope with a bike? On television I recently heard a report that there's a chromosome that causes a personality that's prone to more risk taking. So knowing that is on a chromosome level, part of our genetic code, I decided to use my technique of mining photos for code and apply t photos of the action of risks being taken. I used the sounds this generated and that became the framework for parts I've played myslef as means to see if it forces me to take creative risks. This new The Painful Leg Injuries Podcast series is called Perilous Behavior. To begin the 13th series the first episode is called Increasing Probability Of Inprobable Outcomes.

In other OKSRNA news, our label comp, Men In White Coats and The Painful Leg Injuries' boxset, Interpreting Codes Into Robust Details are both going to be available at NYC's Other Music. So, if you feel so inclined, include these in your next orange bag.

We've got a new podcast from the long MIA space traveler, The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface. U/M/S's 24th podcast is The Descent to Alleviate Sanity Unevenness and it is one Jonah's most experimental pieces to date. It's the sound of a thousand memo recorders on rewind after they've been dropped to the bottom of the ocean.

El Plan De Aguavodka drops a surrealist soundtrack to a tense Middle East drama with his latest podcast, The Snake and the Slow Fuse. It's definitely a scene where some secret has been revealed and our hero must ascertain the meaning of the outcome.

Thanks for listening, until next week.
