Monday, September 10, 2007Update 9/10 Ah, the old west. Over the weekend, for this first time in I'm not sure how long a western opened in theaters, and topped the box office. I love the advertising, "The Best Western Since Unforgiven", which reminds me, how many westerns have there been since Unforgiven? But anyway, now that I'm a citizen of these here parts, The Painful Leg Injuries will be playing our first show since we moved to Austin. We will be at the Maker Faire, performing live on Saturday, October 20th. I couldn't be happier to play the Maker Faire, I'm huge fan of the Make zine. Our old reliable hired gun, John Ibarra, of El Plan De Aguavodka gives us a Morricone soundtrack by way of a distorted casio drone with He's my friend (but he's workin' for the law). I love his song titles, they give amazing narrative strands that open his pieces up to so many more possibilities you will love it. Alex Spalding delivers an abrasive, yet pretty ambient piece with his Vac-uuming II. It's like a cricket trapped on circuit board occasionally risking electrocution. Little Ricky's House of Chankletas' Multiple Relaxing Plants, is a relaxed evolving improv, that is aptly titled. Until next week, take care.
