Monday, March 26, 2007Update 3/26![]() Welcome back everyone. This week's podcasts include the 5th part of the Painful Leg Injuries' Commercial Music Chopped and Screwed Series, Consult A Physician. A slow minimalist almost Phill Niblock-ish, but probably closer to Tim Hecker or Fennesz-style meditation on music I made for a commercial that was designed to scare the audience. El Plan De Aguavodka gives us an awesome retro-theremin styled piece with Deck To Deck. The track has a great dynamic. Love it. No new podcasts next week, I'll be in Italy. We return April 9th. Monday, March 19, 2007Update 3/19 Welcome back! Some quick announcements, Marco Oppedisano, Little Ricky's House of Chankletas and The Painful Leg Injuries will be performing in Brooklyn, at Monkeytown on May 20th. This will be a release party for the new discs from the artists mentioned above. Next, The Painful Leg Injuries' 3", The Quicker Are The Encumbered, a part of Lona Records' 3" series, is due out next month. Six new tracks, the kind of wild mix of experimental electronic, noise, drone, ambiance, world music, and punk rock that you've come to expect from the Painful Leg Injuries. This week's podcasts by PLI and El Plan De Aguavodka are now up. EPDA's latest Let Us Pause For A Brief Moment of Crisis is a lovely miniature, noise swirling flute from your worst nightmares. PLI's latests Results Not Typical reflects the clanking factory nature of making commercials. Until next week, take care. Thursday, March 08, 2007Grooves Digs the New Painful Leg Injuries Album! Awesome experimental electronic site, Grooves, reviews the Painful Leg Injuries' new album If The Devil's In The Details Than How Many Details Can You Fit Upon a Match? Here's a great quote; "It’s a rich, swirling, almost claustrophobic cloak of oceanic reverberations, constantly undermined and interrupted by the incursion of submerged and dormant sounds bubbling up from the source—duck calls, half-buried cries and songs, snatches of strangely incongruous sea-shanty accordion, thrashing drum-machine breaks, twittering voices, computer glitch, stuttering trumpet, heavy breathing, clockwork chimes, video-game frenzy, and noise barf." Thanks to Sean Portnoy from Grooves and the review's excellent author Daniel Spicer. Monday, March 05, 2007Update 3/5 This Week El Plan De Aguavodka shares with us his 50th podcast episode. Improvisations for Zen and the Birds of Appetite is another great episode combing some kind of electro-acoustic techniques it builds into a sound somewhere between the fire sounds in Xenakis's Persepolis, and birds about to take flight. You'll love it, like you do every week. Thanks, John. The Painful Leg Injuries' latest podcast is the 3rd part of the latest series Commercial Music Chopped and Screwed, called Not Intended To Diagnose, Treat Or Prevent Any Disease. Unfortunately, due to an all too hectic schedule for the artist, The Jez Stevens Podcast will not return. I'll have the three existing episodes archived on the site for the time being. We wish Jez the best of luck in his pursuits. However, in some good news we have decided to take a very populist turn and have an open call for new podcasters! We are looking for two new podcasters, people who can give us four episodes a month, people who make experimental electronic music, sound art and creative noise music. If you are interested please contact me, Bill Byrne at painfulleginjuries@yahoo.com, please attach a sample track (no more than 5 mb). I can't wait to hear what you have for us. Thanks again for listening. Next week, March 12th, we will be taking a week off. New episodes return on March 19th. Until then take care.
