This Week's Updates: Update 2/5

Big update for today, apologies for the delay. First up, our very first free digital download release, my band the Painful Leg Injuries' The Rich Man's Godforsaken Driver's Seat.

From the moment I first started reading about the possibility, I've been very excited about the Wiimote as a music controller. When I bought one, and got the software and everything working it was inspiring and I recorded many tracks, and these are the fruits of those sessions. The thirteen tracks in this collection combine compositions with improvisations, the conceptual with the intuitive, and noise with melodies. software, soft synths and samplers, a Pushpin Gameboy Color synth as well as my circuit bent instruments such as my Casio Sk1, Speak and Spell. They are 192 kbps MP3 files, and completely DRM free. Flying Through The Eye At An Alarming Time features recorded samples of me knocking my TV with my Wiimote, samples that were eventually played by his Wiimote. This Is Playful For Diseases is made up completely of improvisations with his Wiimote controlled Pushpin Gameboy synth, and Wiimote played samples of the LSDJ Gameboy tracker software, an anachronistic take on Nintendo gear. Speaking of the Harmful Free Radicals, my weirdo pop band project with OKSRNA co-owner and the man behind the U/M/S, Jonah Goldstein, our debut album The Duplicate Factories of Washington State is being printed this week. We've put up a sample track, Can I Eat The Whole Thing? which can be downloaded here. We'll keep you posted on it's release here.

Now for the week's podcasts, let's start with Little Ricky's House of Chankletas. More of their How-To series, this time they do a Smegma/LAFMS style psych-jazz number with Ch.4 - Be A Slick Neighborhood Cat. You will become cooler if you listen this and people will like you. El Plan De Aguavodka's latest Forced Confession continues his take on taking the Presque Rein concept to the urban environment, with Forced Confession No.4 - An Underground Death for Orange Alerts. Reminds me of just how insane the MTA could make anyone. Lovely, surreal, another great one from John.

Finally, The Painful Leg Injuries latest podcast, I Bet Richter Loves My Bloody Valentine. Continuing my series Shot By The Hip I used the image above as the source material for this composition. What's weird is that not long after I made this one, I read that MBV are back together for real and are working on the follow up to Loveless. So is GNR! Though I think the MBV, should it happen, will be a lot better.

Phew, this is longest update I've done in a while, I think I need a nap.
