1/28 Update

The latest round of podcasts starts off with the explosive finale to Alex Spalding's Imperformance series called Lasting Ash, a great full on, yet structured noise jam.

Next, Little Ricky's House of Chankletas delivers their third How-to with Ch. 3 - Name A Song Testicles. High volume drums, rock-out-rock, where they just indeed showed us how to do exactly that.

Another spooky field recording from El Plan De Aguavodka with the Forced Confession No.3 - Overspeed Government and Slow Chaos in the Ascending Room. Eerie near silence creates the most foreboding atmosphere you've heard in a while.

The Painful Leg Injuries drop Boldy Diagonal a rough and tumble translation of the above image.

Enjoy, stay tuned for next Monday's release of the Painful Leg Injuries free download album The Rich Man's Godforesaken Driver's Seat, a collection of PLI's music made with the Nintendo Wiimote and the first of OKSRNA's new free album series. Enjoy.

Update 1/21

Hope that everyone is enjoying their day off.

First up, the latest "How-To" podcast from Little Ricky's House of Chankletas, this time it's Ch.2 How To Annoy A Potential Client. An odd gaggle of weirdo voices.

Then, El Plan De Aguavodka gives us the haunted Forced Confession No.2- Prince Street Uroborus. I found it to be frightening as hell, almost like the weird feedback is some sort of ghostly communication. Prince Street would have a lot of ghosts if you believe in such things.

Alex Spalding's Blue Vein Catheter is a spiky noise jam, with some very rocky textures. Next week, check out the final episode of his awesome Imperformance series.

For this week's Painful Leg Injuries podcast, I decided to use this extremely blurry shot for Zoetrope for Muybridge. For the second episode of my Shot By The Hip series I used the MIDI from the above photo and picked odd sounding soft synths. Enjoy.

Our free download releases will begin soon, including a collection of the complete Unevenness of the Moon's Surface Podcasts and The Painful Leg Injuries collection of recordings made with Ninetendo Wiimote called The Rich Man's Godforesaken Driver's Seat, stay tuned for more updates.

Until next week.

Update 1/14

Welcome to the first update of 2008.

All of our podcasts have returned with new episodes. Alex Spalding gives us a a noisy epic juggernaut with Opoponax, continuing his Imperformance series.

The Little Ricky's House of Chankletas crew deliver a series of "How To" compositions beginning with the darkly spatial How To Put a Cactus To Sleep.

El Plan De Aguavodka serves up a droning sound scape with Forced Confession No.1- Plowshare Painted Night, lovely, scary processed field recording.

The Painful Leg Injuries podcast resumes with a new processed image series called Shot By The Hip. Each part of this series is an image I found on my cell phone that it had taken without my knowledge of the event. I then convert the image into MIDI data to triggers samples and build a composition from. I also use software to gather sound samples from the file. The first episode is a translation of the image above called A Thin, Clear Film Whose Fractures Make White Lines.

We've got new releases schedule for later this month from BIOS and The Harmful Free Radicals, so stay tuned to this site for more information.

Welcome back and happy 2008 to everyone.

Little Ricky's Live and Best of 07

Folks in NYC, do yourself a favor and
check out Little Ricky's House of
Chankletas, this Sunday

at the Lower East Side's The Annex.

Sunday, Jan 13th
7:30 PM
The Annex NYC

2008 Podcasts begin this Monday!
Now for my favorite records of '07...

My top ten recordings of 2007:

I have to say this is a weird year for me.
Panda Bear's record topped
my list early on this year and nothing
else came close. And what's
weirder is that I actually agree
with Pitchfork! Luckily for my coolness
card, that is where most of the
agreement ends.
Many of my favorites didn't land in
their top 50. For the record, I disqualified
any OKSRNA releases due to the fact
I might be slighted towards the artists
I have on my label.

1) Panda Bear - Person Pitch
Excellent combination of Brian
Wilson's lush pop and Panda's own
Animal Collective weirdness.
Tops the year and all his work
with theAnimal Collective.

2) Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid - Tongues
Fourtet's music started to
sound too cold for an artist
who is accredited
with bringing warmth to
modern electronica, Steve
Reid gives his samples
a lively jazzy pulse.

3) Aufgehoben - Messidor
Imagine Lightning Bolt's
electro-acoustic side project.
Awesome.

4) The Battles - Mirrored
Great update to Post-Rock
and Math-Rock, Tyondai
Braxton's excellent
performance catapults
this supergroup into finally
living up to their potential.

5) Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay Friends
A welcome return of one
my all time favorite rock bands.

6) Astral Social Club - Neon Phibroch
Noise act delves into
the unholy area of techno,
and it works marvelously.

7) Kemialleset Ystevet - Kemialleset Ystevet
Freak noise symphonies
from these amazing
nut-jobs in Finland.

8) Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Even catchier Jonathan
Richman-esque pop.

9) Supersilent - 8
Why aren't these guys
as big as Wolf Eyes?

10) Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam
Even a slightly sub-par
AC album is top ten worthy.

Honorable mention- Kanye West -
Graduation, A Place To
Bury Strangers - S/T,
The Liars - S/T, and the best box
set of the year Miles Davis'
Complete On
The Corner Sesssions

We'll see you on Monday.
