We will be performing on the Make Stage. We are very excited to be taking part in one oof my favorite events, the Make Magazine Maker Fair. We will be debuting some new material for our upcoming album, The Anomaly That Had Gotten The Better Of Me. Also, be sure to check out our latest release, the second full-length solo album by our good friend Marco Oppedisano, The Ominous Corner. You can purchase it from CD Baby by clicking here. This week's podcasts, first up, the latest from El Plan De Aguavodka, Death To RF and Other Outrages Implied is squealing skronk fest of joyful noises, and features John's lo-fi FM theremin. Bourbon St. is the second episode of this very exciting trio series including our own Barry Seroff, NYC avant-jazz legend, Daniel Carter and Ken Schalk on drums. Great loose jam, another wonderful piece in this already great series. And lastly, The Painful Leg Injuries' third episode of circuite bent synth guitar spacey-ness, Bent Synth Guitar Solo 3. Until next week, take care. Monday, September 22, 2008Update 9/22 Welcome back again. This week there's lots of great news to report.First, now available at CD Baby.com is the new album of solo works by Marco Oppedisano. His second full length solo recording, and his third record with OKSRNA, Marco's new solo works are nothing short of mind-blowing. Click here to get your copy of Marco Oppedisano's The Ominous Corner. The Ominous Corner marks very new territory for Marco. His work has become more focused, centering around his live playing. His musique concrète constructions are a jumping off point; a foundation for his mastery. He has processed his influences, such as Fred Frith, Marc Ribot and David Torn, and lifted his stylized playing into a symphonic grandeur along the lines of Mahler, particularly in the album’s title track. Get your copy today! In other big news, Suzanne and I will be performing at Austin's 2008 Maker Faire. This is the Painful Leg Injuries' first live show in almost a year! The Maker Faire will be taking place on October 17th and 18th at Austin's Travis County Fairgrounds, here's a link to more info. I'll post the actual schedule times when I know them, we are very excited to be playing live again. Still more good news to report, also this week our good friend Barry Seroff, will begin a new six part podcast series of his amazing trio including avant-jazz, New York underground legend, Daniel Carter on reeds and trumpet, as well as Ken Schalk on drums and percussion. Roundtable is the first part, and it's quite awesome. This series is called Unassigned from a session on May 28th 2008. The Painful Leg Injuries Podcast this week is the second episode of the latest series, Bent Synth Guitar Solos. With my amazing synth guitar the Unisynth XG-1 , with two added switches, I go on a explosive spacey-meltdown. Also new this week is the latest episode of the El Plan De Aguavodka Podcast, the lovely little melodic number I'm Not Sure What You Meant.Until next week be well. Monday, September 15, 20089/15 Update Welcome back everyone. This week the Painful Leg Injuries begin their 27th podcast series, and it's follow up to Series 2 - Echo Synth Guitar. My Unisynth XG 1, having been in a closet from around '94 to 2K5, had a rough year in 2008. It no longer would play back from battery power, and then it shut down completely. Now I had always resisted the temptation to bend it, but since I had to open it up to fix it. Well, it was pretty much guaranteed I'd find something I'd want to do to it. I played it conservatively adding only two flip switches, one that pushes it to a higher octave, and another I call the "Chaos" switch, which seems to play all six voices at once. So this new series is 6 guitar solos using this modified instrument, running through the same processing rig that series 2 used with digital plug-in effects as well. It's less drone-y and spacey than the first series, but it's also more colorful, and quirky. This week is also the final epsiode of Barry Seroff's podcast series with his Lapis Lapuzi bandmate Stefan Paolini. Kami Mono is a delightfully prety and surprising piece. El Plan De Aguavodka's newest episode is Spirits Refuse. This piece for laptop, and effects is absolutely frightening, if this is the sound of ghosts refusing, then please, John, stop asking. Take care until next week. Monday, September 08, 2008Update 9/8 Welcome back again everyone. New releases are imminent. Marco Oppedisano's second disc for us, the mind-blowing the Ominous Corner and the debut of our first OKSRNA super-group BIOS which is myself, Marco and El Plan De Aguavodka's John Ibarra.Speaking of El Plan De Aguavodka, here's John's latest work, a lovely piece of extreme file compression. This Heart Knows Not to Question is yet another great EPDA podcast. Barry Seroff and Stefan Paolini deliver a surprise bonus episode of their series this week with This Burdening Glare. It's more great stuff. Next week will be the conclusion Barry's collab series with Stefan. Also next week a new series of the Painful Leg Injuries Podcast. For now enjoy the conclusion of the Neither Sung Nor Song series, Echoes Die Too Quickly Like Everyone Else. Until next week, be well. Monday, August 25, 2008Update 8/25 Welcome back.We are readying our next round of releases starting with Marco Oppedisano's new solo disc The Ominous Corner. I expect it to be out very, very soon. This is Marco second solo release with us, and it is an excellent collection of work. This also marks his return to focusing on live playing, with his more musique concrete constructions in the background, thus this record has stronger sense of focus. Don't take that mean he has lost his interest in abstraction, as this record has pushed that aspect of his work forward as well. Also expected in September is the long promised, long delayed debut release by BIOS, the trio collaboration between myself (Bill Byrne of Painful Leg Injuries, Marco, and John Ibarra of El Plan De Aguavodka. The main issue we were having was trying to find a way to include our live performance DVD, now that we have, the album will be out in September. On to the podcasts. The latest from El Plan De Aguavodka is another in a run of absolutely eerie and beautiful pieces for guitar, field recordings and tape. This one is Scandals Overheard and Forgotten in Faculty Housing. Barry Seroff and Stefan Paolini's series of collaborations reaches its climax this week with the incredible epic, On the Regentrification of the Lower East Side. A pile of the broken remains of vocal snippets, jazz breaks, piano flutters and punk rock guitars, the LES's dead soldiers. The Painful Leg Injuries let loose The Video Game That Lives in My Mouth, a piece made up of vocal samples, bit crushed to oblivion. Next week there will be no update, check in with us again when we return on September 7th. Monday, August 18, 2008Update 8/18/08 Welcome back folks.Barry Seroff and Stefan Paolini take us on another continental journey with Tanzania, and it's the kind of trip you don't want to come back from. El Plan De Agavodka delivers a devastatingly odd work with this queasy guitar piece, Side Effects of Fast Food on Concentration. The Painful Leg Injuries' latest track is word we can all say to find immediate forgiveness, now matter what we've done it's called Say This, And Become Forgiven No Matter What You've Done. Take care until next week. ![]() Monday, August 11, 20088/11 Update![]() Welcome back. El Plan De Aguavodka returns this week with She Is Waiting (and so are the lions) a stunning work for an over-taxed computer, guitar, and tape. Barry Seroff drops the second episode of his collaboration with Stefan Paolini with the un-stable yet fun number An Unwritten Flute Sonata. The Painful Leg Injuries' latest is Played by Plucking Phonemes and bottom line with this piece, it just got way out of hand. Be well, until next week.
